Neil Harmitt: “Counterweight is a complete service”

“Counterweight is a complete service”

This programme was introduced to our team by our clinical lead. Our experience so far has been great. The communication from the staff is excellent, and they're always available to provide support.

“Professional, accommodating and flexible”

I found the training very professional, very accommodating and flexible. The Counterweight team are always able to ensure they provide the support to ensure that the programme runs smoothly before starting.

“70% of the patients have lost at least 10% of their body weight”

50% of the patients on the programme have successfully made it through the TDR phase, and 70% of the patients have lost at least 10% of their body weight. Currently we're in the food reintroduction phase in the third month, and we've seen that all patients have managed to maintain their weight, which is great!

“Patients achieve the weight loss required to meet the criteria and targets for life changing procedures”

Counterweight is a complete service which requires minimal planning and changes to existing pathways. We've seen many of our patients achieve the weight loss required to meet the criteria and targets for life changing procedures.

I would recommend this programme to other NHS practitioners who have patients who require fast, rapid weight loss for things such as surgery and fertility.

In the future, it would be great to see the Counterweight programme become more widely available to all NHS patients in relation to affordability and accessibility.
